Summary
Saenai, a 52‑year‑old middle‑management salaryman, leads an unremarkable and largely conventional life until he is abruptly entrusted with a technologically advanced super suit by an enigmatic elderly man. Despite his reluctance, Saenai assumes the role of Superman, a position that demands the protection of global peace and the confrontation of extraordinary threats.
His domestic circumstances, however, prove no less challenging. Saenai lives with his domineering wife, Enko, and their two adolescent children, whose needs and conflicts frequently collide with his newfound responsibilities. The narrative emphasises that the acquisition of superhuman abilities does not resolve the complexities of everyday life; instead, it intensifies the tension between public duty and private obligation.
Through Saenai’s experiences, the story explores broader questions concerning the nature of justice, peace, and happiness, presenting his predicament as a reflection on the burdens of heroism and the ambiguities inherent in moral action.
