Summary
Thunder in Paradise centres on Spence and Bru, former Navy SEALs who undertake high‑risk private missions for clients able to meet their substantial fee of $85,000 per day plus expenses. Their services include the deployment of Thunder, a prototype high‑technology speedboat designed by Spence. Thunder incorporates advanced features uncommon in conventional vessels, including a missile launcher, anti‑theft safeguards, radar‑ and sonar‑stealth capabilities, and an interactive onboard computer system.
The development of Thunder leaves Spence in severe financial difficulty. To resolve his situation, he marries Megan Whitaker, who has inherited the Paradise Beach Motel. Megan seeks marriage to retain ownership of the property and prevent her uncle, Edward Whitaker, from assuming control. Shortly after the wedding, Megan dies in an automobile accident, leaving Spence with custody of her nine‑year‑old daughter, Jessica, and prompting a dispute with Edward. A compromise is reached: Spence adopts Jessica, while Edward manages the motel until she turns twenty‑one.
The series stars Hulk Hogan, a professional wrestler turned actor, and frequently features guest appearances by other wrestlers. Notably, Steve “Sting” Borden appears in multiple episodes as Hammerhead, a former Navy SEAL who has turned to criminal activity.
