Summary
Time Exposure centres on Elsie Makay Solms, a well‑to‑do woman residing in a Victorian‑era house with her four grandchildren, Jessica, Mark,Winston, and Anne, and her impeccably formal butler, Bradshaw. The household is distinguished by an unusual feature: a light in the basement that transports anyone who steps into it back through time. Although the children are expressly forbidden from entering the basement, they inevitably disregard this instruction.
The narrative largely follows the children and adults as they undertake repeated journeys into the past, encountering historical settings and figures. On occasion, notable individuals from earlier eras are drawn into the present, creating further complications. Midway through the programme’s run, two additional characters join the ensemble: Clare, the mother of Mark and Jessica, and Christopher, Bradshaw’s streetwise nephew.
