Summary
In a future society largely free of crime and governed by the powerful corporation Rekall, law‑enforcement officer David Hume struggles to maintain his sense of humanity after receiving a memory implant. The world around him has become increasingly dependent on advanced science and technology, creating a widening divide between human experience and artificial enhancement. Hume is reluctantly partnered with an android who aspires to become more human, a contrast that underscores Hume’s own discomfort with the technological direction of society. At the same time, he finds himself growing distant from his wife, who embraces the rapid advances shaping their world.
