Summary
Touch follows Martin Bohm (Kiefer Sutherland), a former newspaper reporter who has struggled to rebuild his life following the death of his wife in the September 11 attacks. He is the sole caregiver of his eleven‑year‑old son Jake Bohm (David Mazouz), who has been diagnosed as autistic and has never spoken. Martin’s efforts to support Jake have led him through a succession of short‑term jobs, each shaped by the demands of Jake’s specialised care.
Jake exhibits an intense preoccupation with numbers and numerical patterns, spending long periods recording sequences in notebooks or on a touch‑screen tablet. He also arranges everyday objects, such as popcorn kernels, to express or explore these patterns. Although non‑verbal, Jake’s behaviour suggests an underlying cognitive structure that Martin gradually attempts to understand.
