Summary
The series centres on the aftermath of a large‑scale prison break in which more than one hundred high‑risk extra-terrestrial convicts escape custody. The fugitives are led by Zin, regarded as the most intelligent and ruthless criminal of his kind. Originating from multiple alien worlds, the escapees possess abilities far exceeding human capability, including shapeshifting into any human or animal form, enhanced strength and speed, advanced cognitive faculties, and a wide range of species‑specific powers.
Zin engineers a wormhole that transports the group to Chicago, where they establish an organised criminal network spanning numerous illicit activities. In response, the prison authorities dispatch a single operative, known as the Tracker, whose mandate is to locate and apprehend each fugitive, dead or alive.
Operating from a base situated above The Watchfire, a Chicago pub owned by Mel, the Tracker forms an alliance with her. Mel, portrayed as a woman attempting to rebuild her life after personal setbacks, becomes his principal human associate. Their partnership combines extra-terrestrial capability with human resourcefulness, and the narrative frequently explores both their collaborative efforts against alien threats and the developing attraction between them.
