Summary
In a near‑future society, the national population is divided by a physical barrier that separates two distinct socio‑economic territories. The Zone contains approximately eighty per cent of the inhabitants, most of whom are unemployed, while the City accommodates the remaining twenty per cent, representing the active workforce.
Izia Katell (portrayed by Léonie Simaga) resides in the Zone, where she raises her son as a single parent. She is selected by the authorities to serve as a solidarity employee in Aquaville, a district located on the City side of the divide. Her assignment places her in the household of Ruben Garcia (Pierre Deladonchamps), a decontamination engineer noted for his professional dedication. Garcia lives with his wife, Thaïs, and their daughter, who has lost the ability to speak.
