Summary
Set in the year 2074, the narrative takes place forty‑five years after a global technological collapse triggered the disintegration of nation‑states and the emergence of numerous dystopian tribal micro‑societies. Across Europe, hundreds of tribes have formed, but the story centres on three: the Origines, a small and pacifistic forest‑dwelling community; the Crows, an expansionist warrior culture; and the Crimsons, a disciplined, militaristic faction seeking to reunify Europe through diplomatic means.
The plot follows three Origine siblings whose secluded life is disrupted when a pilot from Atlantis crashes an advanced hover jet within their territory. While rescuing the injured pilot, the youngest sibling retrieves a technologically sophisticated cube from the wreckage.
The Crows subsequently attack the Origine settlement in an effort to seize the device, killing most of the inhabitants. The eldest brother, Kiano, is captured and forced into labour within the Crows’ industrial facilities. The sister, Liv, rendered unconscious during the assault, awakens as Crow warriors search for the cube; she kills a female Crow combatant with a crossbow before both are taken prisoner by Crimson forces. The youngest brother, Elja, escapes with the cube, becoming the target of pursuit by the Crows, the Crimsons, and other influential groups seeking control of its advanced technology.
