Summary
In 1978, CNES engineer Didier Mathure witnesses the destruction of his rocket moments after launch, an event that places his professional standing in jeopardy. With his career effectively stalled, Mathure is reassigned to lead GEPAN, the agency’s specialised research division responsible for the scientific investigation of unexplained aerial phenomena. Working alongside the department’s unconventional and often eccentric staff, he is tasked with directing France’s official efforts to evaluate and substantiate potential evidence of paranormal or extra-terrestrial activity.
