== Summary ==

Centuries in the past, ''Earth'' was regarded as a rich and desirable realm, prompting the expansionist ruler ''Shao Kahn'' to seek its annexation into ''Outworld''. To defend the planet, the ''Mortal Kombat tournament'' was established, its outcome determining ''Earthrealm’s'' fate through combat between champions of both realms. Five hundred years earlier, the monk warrior ''Kung Lao'' defeated ''Shang Tsung'', Shao Kahn’s sorcerer, and spared his life, leading Shao to imprison Shang Tsung in the cobalt mines.

Kung Lao was then tasked with preparing new defenders who would ultimately sacrifice themselves for Earthrealm. He formed an alliance with ''Siro'', a former bodyguard, and ''Taja'', an ex‑thief, creating a close partnership between the two. In the enigmatic city of ''Zhuzin'', the trio is guided by the thunder god ''Raiden'' as they confront threats from both Outworld and Earthrealm, including the imprisoned Shang Tsung, who vows revenge for his earlier defeat, and ''Vorpax'', a seductive and manipulative figure with her own agenda.
