Summary
Elfangor-Sirinial-Shamtul, an Andalite prince, is depicted as crash‑landing on Earth during the early stages of the Yeerk infiltration of the planet. Severely injured and aware of his impending death, Elfangor identifies five human adolescents as potential defenders against the Yeerks, a parasitic species capable of infesting and controlling the minds of other sentient beings. Recognising that the invasion has already begun and that several humans are unknowingly under Yeerk control, he entrusts the group with Andalite morphing technology—an ability previously restricted to Andalites alone—which enables them to acquire and transform into any animal they physically touch.
Although regarded by many Andalites as a hero, Elfangor acknowledges that aspects of his past remain undisclosed and will eventually be uncovered by the humans he empowers. Despite their youth and lack of military training, he expresses confidence in their capacity to resist the Yeerk threat, emphasising that extraordinary achievements can arise from individuals unprepared for the burdens placed upon them.
