Summary

In the near future, humanity’s search for alternative energy sources leads to the development of the Triffid, a bioengineered crop cultivated for its valuable fuel, yet disturbingly sentient in behaviour. As global audiences gather to witness a long‑anticipated solar storm, a catastrophic side effect leaves billions blinded, plunging civilisation into immediate collapse.

With society in disarray, the Triffids escape containment. Now free to roam, the creatures unleash their lethal stings and develop an alarming appetite for human flesh, rapidly multiplying as the world struggles to comprehend the scale of the disaster.

Amid the chaos, Dr. Bill Masen emerges as one of the few sighted survivors. Forced into a position of reluctant leadership, he rallies the remaining able‑bodied individuals in a desperate effort to resist the Triffids’ escalating reign of terror, an existential battle that may determine the final fate of humankind.
