Summary

The series follows Dirk Gently (Samuel Barnett), an eccentric investigator who identifies himself as a “holistic detective”, operating on the principle that all events in the universe are fundamentally interconnected. Over the course of the first season, he forms an alliance with Todd Brotzman (Elijah Wood) and Farah Black (Jade Eshete), who become his principal associates in navigating a series of anomalous and often perilous cases.

Dirk’s background is tied to Project Blackwing, a covert government initiative designed to monitor and evaluate individuals exhibiting unusual or preternatural abilities. As a former Blackwing subject, he is pursued by agency operatives seeking to return him to custody. Parallel to this, he is also tracked by Bart Curlish (Fiona Dourif), another Blackwing participant who describes herself as a “holistic assassin” and believes she is fated to kill him.
