Summary

Set approximately 10,000 years prior to the events depicted in Dune, the narrative begins eight decades after a coalition of human factions has defeated the thinking‑machine armies that had brought humanity to the brink of extinction. In the aftermath of this conflict, sisters Valya and Tula Harkonnen work to preserve the authority and institutional stability of the Sisterhood while confronting emerging threats to the future of human civilisation.

The storyline examines the formative period of the Sisterhood, later known as the Bene Gesserit, tracing its consolidation of influence within the Imperium and exploring the internal rivalries, ideological disputes, and external challenges that shape its development. It also situates these events within the broader historical framework of the Dune universe, addressing the early trajectories of the Harkonnen and Atreides lineages and the emergence of a prophesied adversary whose rise threatens the Sisterhood’s long‑term ambitions.
