Summary
Future Cop can be regarded as a series‑length counterpart to the comedy programme Holmes and Yoyo, as both centre on a prototype android police officer partnered with a conventional human detective. In this series, the android John Haven is assigned to work alongside veteran officers Jon Cleaver and Bill Bundy.
Haven is presented as an early model of the “perfect cop of the future”, equipped with capabilities beyond those of his human colleagues, though his programming still contains occasional faults. Cleaver is fully aware of Haven’s artificial nature, as is Haven’s creator, Dr. Tingley. Bundy, however, remains unaware of the truth and believes Haven to be an inexperienced rookie in need of mentoring.
This concealed identity forms the basis for much of the series’ humour and conflict, as Cleaver must continually devise explanations whenever Haven performs feats that no ordinary officer could accomplish.
