Summary
Get Smart follows Maxwell Smart, Agent 86 of CONTROL, an inept but oddly successful secret agent engaged in a continual battle against the criminal organisation KAOS. Smart’s achievements are largely due to the competence of his partner, Agent 99, whose real name is never disclosed, and the steady leadership of the Chief, who is frequently astonished by Smart’s survival and occasional effectiveness.
The series is known for Smart’s recurring catchphrases, such as “Sorry about that, Chief” and “Would you believe…?”, and for its array of eccentric gadgets, most famously the shoe‑phone and the notoriously ineffective Cone of Silence. CONTROL’s supporting agents include Hymie the overly literal robot, the dim‑witted Larabee, the perpetually hidden Agent 13, and master of disguise Charlie Watkins.
Recurring villains include Siegfried, KAOS’s top operative, his assistant Starker, and the Claw, an antagonist repeatedly frustrated by the mispronunciation of his name.
