Summary
The first season is set in London in 1891 and follows Ethan Chandler, an American gunman and travelling performer who is recruited by the explorer and adventurer Sir Malcolm Murray and the enigmatic Vanessa Ives. The group seeks to rescue Murray’s daughter from a mysterious supernatural creature. They are assisted by Victor Frankenstein, a young physician whose past experiments soon return to haunt him when an undead creature he previously reanimated and abandoned begins to pursue him.
Meanwhile, Vanessa becomes romantically involved with Dorian Gray, a charismatic and artistic young man. At the same time, she experiences increasingly disturbing supernatural encounters involving Lucifer, who seeks to claim her as his bride and queen.
