Summary
Six passengers survive a plane crash in the Amazon rainforest and are eventually presumed dead by search teams. Stranded without hope of rescue, they encounter a secluded community of people of European descent who were similarly lost nearly four centuries earlier. The narrative examines the hostile environment into which the survivors are thrust and follows their efforts to endure, adapt, and devise means of escape.
