Summary
Government officer Richland inspects a Caribbean research facility where scientists have engineered an adaptive human–shark hybrid. The creature escapes, kills the lead researcher, and is secretly disposed of at sea by Dr. Peniston.
Twenty‑five years later, marine biologist Dr. Chase, his assistant Tall Man, and colleague Dr. Macy encounter a series of unexplained deaths. The hybrid has resurfaced, prompting conflict with local authorities who mistakenly blame a great white shark. As the creature evolves and becomes increasingly dangerous, Chase uncovers the original experiment and Richland’s role in concealing it.
The creature attacks the island community, forcing Chase, Macy, Tall Man, and Chase’s son Max into a final confrontation. Peniston sacrifices himself to trap the organism in a pressure chamber, allowing Chase to destroy it through explosive decompression. The survivors depart the island as order is restored.
