Summary

Set in the year 2005, the narrative begins when police officer Alex Murphey and his partner respond to a call while patrolling Old Detroit and the newly developed Delta City. During the encounter, Murphey is critically injured. In an effort to save his life, scientists at Omni Consumer Products (OCP) reconstruct his body using advanced robotic components, effectively transforming him into a cybernetic law‑enforcement unit. The procedure comes at a significant cost: Murphey’s memories are erased, and in his place emerges RoboCop, conceived as the ultimate instrument of justice.

Over time, fragments of Murphey’s former life begin to resurface, challenging his programmed identity and compelling him to reconcile his human past with his mechanical present. As both victim and hero, he navigates a dystopian future in which the gleaming towers of Delta City overshadow the decaying remains of Old Detroit.

The series features several recurring characters, including OCP’s chairman, who serves as a paternal figure to Murphey; Officer Lisa Madigan, a determined young police officer; Sergeant Stan Parks; Parks’s friend and soon‑to‑be adopted daughter, Gadget; Murphey’s scientific overseer, Charlie Lippencott; and Diana Powers, an OCP secretary who continues to exist within cyberspace as a digital consciousness following her murder in the premiere episode.

Opposing RoboCop are a range of antagonists, among them the unhinged scientist Dr Cray Z. Mallardo, ambitious OCP employee Chip Chaykin, and the disfigured criminal Pudface Morgan.
