Summary
Kazumi Murata and Koji Kashiwabara become entangled in a covert struggle for control of their high school after discovering that the institution has fallen under the influence of a clandestine faction known as the Awakened. Their investigation reveals that the group is led by Michiru Takamizawa, the school’s student representative, whose authority masks a far older and more complex design.
Seventeen years earlier, a student named Kyogoku reportedly received a message from the future warning that humanity would face extinction in the year 2107. Convinced that survival required the deliberate acceleration of human evolution, a concept later associated with Infrared Music , Kyogoku initiated a series of experimental procedures within the school. His death left the project unfinished, but Michiru resolved to continue his work, positioning herself as the inheritor of Kyogoku’s radical vision.
The narrative is adapted from a story by Taku Mayumara, noted for works such as Mysterious Pen‑Friend, Mysterious New Student, and Bakumatsu Time Traveler, each of which explores themes of temporal displacement, hidden identities, and speculative transformation.
