Summary
Genius scientist Golly, an intellectually advanced monkey from Planet E (portrayed by Toya and voiced by Kobayashi and Nishiyama), flees his home world following a failed coup attempt. Accompanied by his subordinate Rah (Uenishi), Golly travels through space and eventually encounters Earth, a planet whose natural beauty is marred by extensive environmental degradation. Outraged by the ecological harm inflicted by what he regards as an ignorant and irresponsible species, Golly resolves to punish humanity. To this end, he creates a series of monsters inspired by the Ultraman franchise, each formed from pollution itself.
Golly’s activities attract the attention of the inhabitants of Planet Nevilla 71, a civilization committed to safeguarding less advanced worlds from exploitation or interference by technologically superior societies. In response to the threat, they dispatch Spectreman to defend Earth, a development that results in a somewhat awkward shift in emphasis within the series’ title.
