Summary
Ultra Q: Dark Fantasy presents a contemporary reinterpretation of the original Ultra Q, following a journalist, a freelance photographer, and a science professor as they examine anomalous incidents that frequently involve supernatural or inexplicable forces. The series adopts a markedly darker, horror‑inflected tone, employing suspense‑driven narratives, fantasy elements, and occasional moments of understated humour across its standalone episodes. Supported by veteran staff from the broader Ultra Series and produced for a late‑night broadcast slot that emphasised atmospheric storytelling, it features a wide range of monsters, mysteries, and uncanny phenomena. The result is a programme that offers a modernised yet deliberately nostalgic contribution to Japanese tokusatsu.
