Summary
Game of Thrones is a fantasy drama series set on the continents of Westeros and Essos, where several noble houses compete for power and influence following the death of King Robert Baratheon. As political alliances shift and rival claimants vie for control of the Iron Throne, the realm becomes engulfed in intrigue, warfare, betrayal, and dynastic conflict. Central to the story is House Stark of Winterfell, whose members are drawn into the struggle for power while attempting to preserve their family's honour amid growing instability.
Beyond the political conflicts of Westeros, the series follows Daenerys Targaryen, the exiled descendant of a former royal dynasty. Seeking to reclaim the throne that was lost to her family, she gradually amasses followers, military strength, and dragons, which had long been considered extinct. Her journey across Essos transforms her from a displaced noblewoman into one of the most influential figures in the known world, bringing her into eventual conflict with the competing powers of Westeros.
At the same time, an ancient supernatural threat emerges beyond the Wall, a vast fortification guarding the northern frontier of the realm. As the White Walkers and their undead army advance southward, longstanding rivalries and political ambitions are challenged by the need for survival. The series ultimately intertwines its numerous storylines as competing factions confront both the struggle for the Iron Throne and the existential danger posed by the approaching forces of winter.
