Summary
Nanase Takigawa, a young woman with telepathic abilities, becomes the target of a shadowy organisation after she inadvertently exposes a criminal act using her powers. Forced to flee, she encounters other psychically gifted youths whose abilities make them similarly vulnerable.
As Nanase attempts to protect them, she uncovers evidence of a long‑running programme dedicated to tracking and eliminating individuals with extrasensory abilities. The series follows her efforts to keep the group safe while confronting the organisation’s operatives, culminating in a struggle that tests her resolve and the limits of her powers.
The 1998 adaptation streamlines the mythology, omits the Macao and time‑travel elements of the 1979 series, and focuses on tension, pursuit, and the moral implications of psychic surveillance.
