Summary
The series opens with Tarzan residing in Europe before returning to Africa to thwart the schemes of Count Rokoff. After overcoming Rokoff and his ally Moram ,queen of the Mahars, a race of carnivorous subterranean creatures inhabiting Pellucidar, the inner-world Tarzan previously visited in Tarzan at the Earth’s Core, he elects to remain in Africa. There he is reunited with his long-time companion Themba, who subsequently joins him on his adventures.
In the manner of productions such as Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, The Adventures of Sinbad, the, and New Adventures of Robin Hood, the, the series adopts a pronounced fantasy orientation. Recurring motifs include malevolent sorcerers, supernatural entities, expeditions into alternate realms, and encounters with concealed or forgotten civilizations.
