Summary
Earth is engulfed by a lethal airborne contaminant that spreads a plague known as “the Purple Death”. In response, Flash Gordon once again launches into space aboard Dr. Zarkov’s rocket ship, this time accompanied by a new Dale Arden (Hughes replacing Jean Rogers), to confront Ming the Merciless, played by Charles Middleton.
Recognising the diminishing returns of the franchise, Universal signalled the conclusion of its Flash Gordon serials by decisively ending Ming’s reign in the closing chapter of this instalment, bringing the long‑running conflict between hero and tyrant to a definitive close.
