Summary
A century‑old incident results in a professor creating an immortal monster, a being with a human‑like form but a distinctly inhuman appearance. Despite his origins, the creature possesses deep compassion and lives in seclusion within a remote forest, quietly longing for a life among humans while knowing such a dream is impossible.
His solitude ends when he encounters Tsugaru‑san, a young woman suffering from an incurable illness. Drawn to her kindness, he falls in love and begins to experience love, friendship, and the wider world for the first time. Yet a devastating truth hangs over them: a monster cannot physically touch a human.
