Summary

After the death of his brother William, Victor Frankenstein becomes obsessed with reanimation and partners with scientist Henry Clerval, who has discovered how to restore dead tissue. When Clerval dies, Victor completes their experiment alone, implanting Clerval’s brain into their creation. The Creature is brought to life but suffers rapid physical decay and, believing himself monstrous, attempts suicide.

Surviving the attempt, the Creature briefly finds refuge with a blind man, but a violent confrontation leads to accidental deaths. Seeking help, he returns to Victor’s laboratory, now controlled by Dr Polidori, who forces Victor to assist in creating a second being. Using Agatha’s head, they produce a female creature, Prima, whom Polidori intends to use for political manipulation.

Prima is introduced to society, but the original Creature, burned and enraged, interrupts the event and kills her. Victor and his wife Elizabeth Fanshawe flee England, only to encounter Polidori aboard their ship. The Creature has stowed away, kills Polidori during a storm, and steers the vessel toward the Arctic.

Elizabeth confronts the Creature and is murdered. Trapped in the ice, Victor pursues him into a cavern, where an avalanche is triggered. As the ice collapses, the Creature, speaking with Clerval’s voice, offers forgiveness, and Victor begins to laugh.
